When The XX's 2009 self-titled debut really took off in 2010, raves about the band's originality were almost as ubiquitous as the album itself. But, of course, nothing is made in a vacuum. Still, fans might be surprised to learn that frontwoman Romy Madley Croft looks to Mariah Carey for inspiration. "I'm a really big fan," Madley Croft tells Spinner. "It's more her music than her as an icon." That's code for saying her admiration doesn't extend to movies as woebegone as 'Glitter.'
