Finntroll combines elements of Black Metal, Death Metal, and Folk Metal with Finnish folk music type called "Humppa".
Although Finntroll comes from Finland, Finntroll lyrics in Swedish (the country's second official language). Finntroll lyrics theme of Finnish legend and fantasy.
After releasing the album "Visor Om Slutet" (2003), founder of Finntroll, Jan "Katla" Jämsen had to retire from Finntroll because the tumor in the vocal cords that can not be removed surgically. On March 16, 2003, Teemu "Somnium" Raimoranta died, fell from a bridge in Hakaniemi, Helsinki after consuming too much alcohol.
Although Finntroll has lost a founding member, Finntroll is not disbanded. Finntroll tour for two weeks in Europe with the Swedish Metal band, Katatonia.
Finntroll first tour in North America, along with Thrash Metal band, Sodom, influential band in early 2006.
Finntroll latest album, "Nifelvind", was released on February 17, 2010. "Nifelvind" achieve the highest chart position in Finland with a reach to 8. "Nifelvind" also entered the German album charts at position 31, as well as in Switzerland and Austria position of the 41 positions to 61.
