Venom is a Black Metal / Thrash Metal band formed in 1979 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England by Conrad "Cronos" Lant (bass, vocals), Jeffrey "Mantas" Dunn (guitar) and Anthony "Abaddon" Bray (drums).

Venom music style is influenced by various bands Rock, Punk and Heavy Metal. Like Motörhead, Judas Priest, Saxon, AC / DC, KISS, T / Rex, Bowie, UFO and The Sex Pistols.

Venom itself influenced many bands of Thrash Metal, Black Metal and Death Metal. Like Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer, Death, Morbid Angel, Hellhammer, Testament, Eudoxis, Exodus and Mayhem.

The album Welcome to Hell (1981) and Black Metal (1982) pioneered the Black Metal movement.

Venom lyrics are Antichrist and lead to satanism.
