When singer Liam Gallagher isn't busy working on music with his new band, Beady Eye, he apparently fills all his down time hurling insults at his brother (and former Oasis bandmate) Noel. The latest salvo from Liam has to do with Noel's potential solo career: He's claiming that Noel's record will include several songs from old Oasis sessions.
Speaking with Contact Music, Liam delivered a typically expletive-ridden tirade, saying, "I've heard his f***ing new record 'cos I f***ing sung on half of it. When I was in America for Dig Out Your Soul" -- the final studio album from Oasis -- "he swiped some off because he obviously knew he wanted to do a solo album. So he can talk all the bulls**t about, 'Oh, I was intimidated,' and all that. F***ing nonsense. Behave. He knows. The people know. And I know."
Liam's rant has gotten a lot of traction online, but the truth is, his accusations shouldn't be all that surprising. Back in April of 2009, Noel practically admitted as much, saying, "I've got a lot of songs lying around and some of them are really great. But they're not Oasis songs." Even at the time of Dig Out Your Soul, which came out in October of 2008, it was known that there was a lot of extra material from the sessions that would probably serve as a follow-up record. But then in August of 2009, Noel decided he'd had it with Oasis, leaving the band and causing their breakup.
Since then, Liam has focused his creative energy on Beady Eye, whose first album, Different Gear, Still Speeding, will come out in the U.K. at the end of February. As for Noel's solo disc, no one knows exactly when we'll hear it -- but as far as Liam's concerned, he's already heard more than enough.
